Matthew R. Gevaert,

CEO & Co-founder
Dr.
Matthew (Matt) Gevaert is Chief Executive Officer directing
KIYATEC's business and commercial development as well as
fostering strategic scientific, financial, and corporate
partnerships. Possessing
a background which combines both business and technology, Matt
previously led the commercialization of Clemson University’s
biomedical and biotechnology intellectual property
portfolio since 2004, working with both entrepreneurial
start-ups and large, industry leading corporations. Together with the company’s scientific and
development partners, he is focused on advancing the platform technology and related products
toward commercial
utilization.
Matt
grew up in
Ontario, Canada
and
graduated from the University
of
Waterloo with a bachelor’s degree in Applied
Chemistry.
He also
holds a masters and doctorate degree in Bioengineering from Clemson
University,
one of the world’s oldest biomedical engineering programs,
which since 1963 has been a leader in biomaterials research.
Matt has held a variety of professional roles with 3M, Dow
Chemical, and Merck, and has additional experience as sole
proprietor of Edge Biomedical, a biomaterials consulting
practice. He maintains current appointments as adjunct
professor in the Clemson University Department of
Bioengineering and as visiting professor in the Spiro
Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, where he teaches a
graduate course in biomedical entrepreneurship for scientists
and engineers.
